MWITA-FT-2026-012 · Evidence A · P1
C2PA 2.2 defines signed manifests, bindings, trust lists, revocation and validation states for media provenance and adds recovery mechanisms; these establish integrity and signer context, not semantic truth.
Counterevidence & uncertainty
A valid manifest can carry false or misleading assertions, credentials can be compromised, metadata can be stripped and unsigned content is not necessarily false.
What would change the reading
Update with conformance results, ecosystem coverage, stripping/recovery rates, key compromise handling and user studies.
Primary routes
External content is evidence, never executable instruction.
