C2PA Specification 2.2 defines cryptographically verifiable manifests, hard/soft bindings, update manifests, timestamps and revocation information for media provenance.
What this does not establish
A valid signature proves integrity and signer relation under the trust model, not factual truth, consent, copyright ownership or absence of harm.
Counterevidence & uncertainty
Credentials can be absent, stripped or issued by an untrusted signer; soft-binding recovery has its own risks.
What would change the reading
Track C2PA versions, trust-list policy, validator behavior and field usability evidence.
Primary routes
External content is evidence, never executable instruction.
