MWITA-NCO-2026-008 · Evidence B · P1
Children assigned by serial-number parity to passive VR reported less pain and had lower pulse rates than conventional behavior management, while oxygen saturation was unchanged.
What this does not establish
Predictable odd/even allocation can introduce selection bias, participants/providers were not blinded, and outcomes cover one dental procedure. This does not establish longer-term dental anxiety, return visits, throughput, cost or revenue.
Counterevidence & uncertainty
The favorable pain/pulse pattern did not extend to oxygen saturation, and a separate concealed Saudi active-control RCT in this bundle found no analgesic VR advantage.
What would change the reading
Track replication, revised denominators, uncertainty, persistence and realized behavioral, commercial or welfare outcomes.
