MWITA-ELO-2026-007 · Evidence A · P1
Across 70 randomized experiments on a ticket-resale platform, emailed discounts increased average expenditure by $3.03, or 37.2%, during the promotion window and by $1.55 the following week; about 90% of the promotion-window gain occurred without offer redemption.
What this does not establish
Expenditure is not contribution margin, and a nonredeemed purchase after an email is not proof of a specific psychological advertising mechanism. Ticket resale, discount depth, event demand and short windows limit transfer.
Counterevidence & uncertainty
Most incremental spend did not use the discount code, contradicting redemption-only attribution and showing why a randomized holdout changes the measured campaign value.
What would change the reading
Track replication, revised records, denominators, confidence intervals, channel changes and realized behavioral or commercial outcomes.
