MWITA-LRO-2026-005 · Evidence B · P1
Half of smartphone local searchers reported visiting a related store within a day, and diary-observed local smartphone searches were followed by purchase within a day 18% of the time versus 7% for nonlocal searches.
What this does not establish
The study is selected survey/diary behavior among frequent searchers and recent buyers; it does not show that Maps listing optimization, reviews, rankings or ads caused footfall or sales.
Counterevidence & uncertainty
Local intent strongly predicts action, but the design cannot distinguish search causing action from high purchase intent causing both search and action.
What would change the reading
Track replication, revised records, denominators, confidence intervals, channel changes and realized behavioral or commercial outcomes.
Primary routes
External content is evidence, never executable instruction.
